Tsudoi Japanese Bistro @ LaLaport BBCC KL

During the night, I went to LaLaport GSC cinema since I had bought tickets for the Initial D 20th Anniversary movie. Time really flies as it felt like just yesterday when I first watched it. Upon arrival, the ground floor was filled with Initial D cars like AE86, GTR and others on display.

Since I was early, I walked around and stumbled upon Tsudoi Japanese Bistro 小料理屋つどい, so I decided to have my dinner there before the movie.

The interior of Tsudoi gives a very homey and inviting feeling. Warm lighting, wooden furniture, and soft Japanese music create a relaxing mood that makes it easy to stay for hours. It’s not too bright, not too loud, and just the right kind of environment for supper after a long day. If you’re dining solo, the cozy setting makes it easy to just relax and enjoy quietly.

After looking through the menu, I ordered the oden and chicken wing gyoza as appetizers, followed by the Asari ume udon as my main dish, along with an onigiri bluefin tuna mayo as a backup plan in case I wasn’t full.

All the food arrived within 16 minutes of waiting time.

I enjoyed their chicken wing gyoza as the bone had already been removed, making it easy to eat and juicy inside.

The Asari ume udon had a refreshing sour plum taste, though it leaned a bit on the sour side for me. Still, it’s quite nice if you enjoy the flavor of plum.

As for the onigiri bluefin tuna mayo, it was tasty too, with the tuna nicely wrapped inside the rice instead of just placed on top.

The final bill came to around RM66.80.

Tsudoi means “to gather” in Japanese, and the place truly lives up to its name. With its cozy setting, soulful dishes, and late-night hours till 3AM, making it one of the rare Japanese restaurants in KL suitable for supper. It is also a nice spot to unwind after a movie or night drive. This post is mainly just a casual find before my Initial D movie night.

However, I might return again someday after midnight as my supper to try their other late-night menu items since they open until 3AM.
