The Look and Feel of Southern Kopi
From the outside, the shop is hard to miss. The building has bright blue and orange stripes, a large mural of a man pouring kopi, and even a giant egg tart decoration hanging above the walkway. The kopitiam signboard and wooden frames give it a nostalgic look mixed with a modern touch.
Inside, the atmosphere is warm and lively. The interior features vintage style lamps, a decorated counter area, and a display full of buns and pastries. In the photo, there is also a Christmas banner hanging near the cashier, together with stacked bags of coffee and ready packed drinks. It feels like a busy neighbourhood kopitiam where people come for quick meals and kopi breaks.
What I Tried at Southern Kopi
One of the dishes I tried was the fried chicken nasi lemak. The rice is shaped neatly with a sunny side up egg on top. The sambal is thick and dark, the anchovies and peanuts look crispy, and the chicken leg is golden brown. The plate looks simple but satisfying, which matches the kopitiam vibe.
Their menu also shows many options such as curry noodles, mushroom mince pork ban mee, minced pork dry noodles, claypot nasi lemak and more. The menu photos are colourful and make it easy to choose.
I personally redeemed the Chicken Drumstick Nasi Lemak which normally costs around RM16+.
On the receipt, the meal was fully waived under “Birthday Gift – Complimentary Meal” as I only needed to pay RM1.15 for a cup of cold water plus tax.
