During the evening, I decided to redeem another birthday reward, this time at Rinjin Shokudo, a Japanese home cooked style restaurant that I’ve actually wanted to try for quite some time.

For my visit, I ordered the Kaisen Miso Kimuchi Nabe set, which comes with a hot pot main, rice, and sides. I chose Salmon Carpaccio (Cold) and Smoked Duck Salada (Cold) as the side dishes.
The kimuchi miso nabe was warm and comforting, with a nice balance of spice and savoury flavour, especially suitable if you like Japanese hot pot style meals.
Initially, my bill was just slightly below the RM50 minimum spend required to use the birthday voucher. The staff was kind enough to help by adding an RM0.20 open item, so that my total met the minimum spend requirement. This made it possible for me to redeem the birthday voucher smoothly, which I really appreciated.
Before applying the birthday voucher, my subtotal came up to RM50.00. After deducting the RM30 birthday cash voucher, the remaining amount was RM20.00. With service charge and SST added, my final bill came to RM23.20. For a full Japanese set meal with hot pot, rice, and sides, this felt quite worth it as a birthday treat.
Food wise, Rinjin Shokudo focuses more on Japanese home cooked comfort food rather than fancy plating. Portions were satisfying, the salmon carpaccio tasted fresh, and the smoked duck potato salad was light and easy to finish. Overall, it is a place I would consider revisiting, especially during birthday month with the voucher.
