This afternoon, I went to collect my pre-ordered premium Bak Kwa from the Wing Heong BBQ Meat SS2 branch in Petaling Jaya. I’ve been a loyal supporter of Wing Heong for over 10 years, and coincidentally, the shop belongs to a friend of mine. This time, I pre-booked 300 grams each of BBQ Honey Bacon and BBQ Sliced Pork with him, enjoying a nice discount as a member and friend price.
When I arrived, there was a super long queue in front of the shop, reminiscent of people lining up like buy “Sports Toto” (4D Jackpot) tickets.
This has been a hot topic recently in Malaysia news due to the record-breaking RM121,000,000 (RM121 million), approximately $26 million USD prize. Fortunately, I didn’t need to queue since I had pre-ordered on January 19th.
I went straight to the counter to collect my order after catching up with my friend.
Besides Bak Kwa, the shop also offered various Chinese New Year treats, and I plan to return to buy their Chinese sausage, “Lap Cheong” (腊肠), next time.
The final bill came to RM94.90 after applying member and friend discounts, as detailed below.
When I got home, I couldn’t resist opening the Bak Kwa immediately. Great food deserves to be enjoyed fresh!
My secret trick to enhancing its flavor is to warm it up in the microwave—it really amplifies the taste for both types. (As I’m writing this, I’m savoring it like a “French sir,” with a knife and fork.)
Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I’ll definitely return next year for Chinese New Year because Wing Heong’s Premium Bak Kwa isn’t just delicious; it also makes for a perfect gift, especially with the premium packaging I bought from their Wing Heong Sri Petaling branch.
