This morning, while scrolling through my phone, I came across a Facebook ad about KFC’s Jellycat-Inspired Zinger Mantou Plush Charm event. Although it’s already the second day, the event will run until this Sunday, 12th January 2025.
Suddenly, I felt like heading to Sunway Pyramid to celebrate the launch of the Golden Crispy Mantou.
I arrived at 10 a.m, and to my surprise, there was already a huge crowd queuing up on a weekday—as if nobody needed to work! It made me wonder if there might be other ways of living when you become your own boss. Anyway, we had to make payment first before getting to experience the Mantou plushie performance.
Along with our purchase, we received some vouchers and a chance to spin the Chewy Cheesy Wheel if you bought the 8-piece Chewy Cheese set.
I ended up winning a free Zinger Classic from the Chewy Cheesy Wheel, which was a nice surprise!
However, the queue took about an hour before it was my turn. I couldn’t help but admire the staff, who managed to maintain their cheerful energy while repeating the same process all day—impressive! You can see the vibe from the video I recorded when my turn finally came.
The total bill came to RM51.45 after tax, with the limited edition Mantou Plushies priced at RM23.88.
Afterward, I went to KFC Sunway Pyramid to redeem my free Zinger burger since it was only valid for the same day.
I also ordered the Nasi Lemak set for an additional RM7.99 when claiming the free Zinger burger, because a Minute Maid orange juice alone would have cost RM6.99—it felt more worth it to pay RM1 more for the full set.
As for the Golden Crispy Zinger Mantou, I found it just okay—clearly a marketing tactic for Chinese New Year, but it worked!
The Chewy Cheese balls, unfortunately, were a bit cold since I ate them an hour later, so the experience wasn’t great.
That said, it reminded me of when KFC was one of my clients back in my “Ex-ex-ex” advertising agency days. Supporting their events feels nostalgic, especially when they involve Facebook ads and food that fills my stomach.
I packed the remaining food to enjoy at home later, marking the end of my KFC Fried Charms Pop-Up experience at Sunway Pyramid.
On a side note, Sunway Pyramid is becoming my favorite mall since I joined their Sunway’s Super App membership—I can even claim free parking with my points, although I don’t need to use my overseas Mastercard to pay.
