During the afternoon, I happened to open the Grab app and noticed there was a 30% off Father’s Day promo, even valid on weekdays. So I started browsing for nearby restaurants that accepted the Grab Dine-Out deal, and decided to go for lunch at Grand Taipei (大台北) located inside Bloomsvale Shopping Gallery.
It only took me about 7 minutes to drive from Old Klang Road, and the basement parking was free for the first hour, which is always a nice bonus. The restaurant itself was easy to locate after taking the escalator up to the ground floor.
While checking out the place, I noticed that this restaurant was once the Champion of Lu Rou Fan in 2009 Taipei, which gave me slightly higher expectations.
The interior was cozy, clean, and had that subtle Taiwanese street food vibe.
I ordered the Spicy Braised Pork Knuckle with Rice, paired with a glass of iced water.
The food came out pretty fast, around 6 minutes of waiting time, which makes sense since the pork knuckle was probably pre-braised and just plated with the rice.
As for the taste, I felt the pork knuckle had a little too much fat for my liking. Personally, I prefer leaner cuts, so this one wasn’t really my favourite. That said, the portion was okay for the price.
The original bill was RM24.80.
However, after stacking the 15% Grab Dine-Out deal with the 30% Father’s Day promo, I only paid RM14.76, which made it feel a bit more worth it.
Overall, the meal was just okay for me, but I might come back to try other dishes in the future, especially when there’s a 30% off Grab Dine-Out promo happening again.
