During midnight, I started feeling hungry and decided to open the Grab app to check out their Huatever CNY promo near the Old Klang Road (OKR) area.
That’s when I came across FWF Hotpot (凤王府) restaurant at Pearl Point Shopping Mall. It was my second time using a Grab promo, following the 30% off Huatever deal at TAI ER, The Exchange TRX. So I called ahead to make a booking and asked if I could opt for the trio pot.
I wanted to select the herbal soup and two plain water flavors, which were priced at RM14.90 for the soup base according to their menu.
It was 12:22 a.m., and the drive would only take me six minutes.
I truly enjoyed the quiet midnight drive.
However, upon arrival and being seated, the waiter informed me that the trio pot option with two plain water flavors wasn’t available.
Instead, I could only order the twin pot with one plain water soup base, which cost RM22.90.
I didn’t mind the change and proceeded to order handmade noodles, an assorted ball platter, homemade pork dumplings, tofu, enoki mushrooms, eggs, and a brown sugar glutinous rice cake for dessert. They also served some watermelon slices as an appetizer.
The waiting time for all the dishes to be served was about 15 minutes.
The nourishing herbal soup base was delicious, and I particularly enjoyed the handmade noodles paired with the four different types of assorted balls.
The meal hit the spot, making for a satisfying midnight hotpot experience! The brown sugar glutinous rice cake was served after my main dishes, and I truly enjoyed it.
To my surprise, they also offered free desserts! The dessert of the day included plum-flavored tea and “Gui Ling Gao” (traditional Chinese herbal jelly), which was a nice touch.
The original bill came to RM91.85.
With Grab’s CNY Huatever promo deals, I only paid RM58.07—definitely a steal for such a satisfying meal!
Note** Currently, the staff at the FWF Pearl Point branch have informed me that the GrabPay/Dineout deal will not be available at this location until 5th February, 2025. I have contacted Grab to follow up on this issue. If you plan to use the Grab CNY Huatever deal, please avoid visiting this branch.
On the day of my visit, I paid via the Grab app to be eligible for the promotion. I am still following up closely with Grab support, as they should remove the FWF Pearl Point branch if it does not accept such deals, to prevent misleading information.
Well, the manager explained to me that there was a miscommunication, and the trio pot could actually be ordered with a single soup base and two plain water options. To make the experience even better, the manager gifted me an FWF “Fu Dai” (福袋), a lucky bag symbolizing prosperity during Lunar New Year.
When I got home and opened it, I was delighted to find some nice gifts, including a Black Jack poker card set, which was a pleasant surprise.
Overall, the experience was fantastic! I’d definitely come back for another round, especially if there’s a promo using e-wallets. That said, the food is on the premium side, so it’s perfect for special occasions or when there’s a good deal.
