Grab Father Day Promo @ Ombak Kitchen Bangsar

During the afternoon, I came across Grab’s “Dine Out with Dad” promo for Father’s Day, offering up to 40% off at selected restaurants until 15 June.

After browsing through a few options, I decided to try Ombak Kitchen Bangsar since it’s near my area and I’ve always wanted to experience their seafood-in-a-bag concept. Parking was pretty easy. I found a spot nearby that cost just RM1 for an hour using the TNG app.

The moment I stepped in, the interior felt cozy and refreshing. The space is brightly lit with cheerful beach-themed vibes, which matched the seafood mood well.

Ombak Kitchen Bangsar has a casual, family-friendly setup with long tables covered in plastic and lined with paper sheets, perfect for a proper hands-on seafood session.

From their Lunch Signatures menu, I picked the Seafood Value Combo for 2 pax, which came with Fresh XL Prawns, blue mussels, hamaguri clams, squid, corn, potatoes, sausages, and white rice. There are five sauces to choose from:

• Signature Crazy Cajun
• Fan Favourite Buttermilk Indulgence
• Cheesy Zesty Lemon
• Chilli Crab
• Garlic Butter

I went for the Signature Crazy Cajun, which they describe as an authentic Cajun sauce made from a unique mix of Cajun spices, paprika, garlic, herbs, and their own secret blend.

The food took around 20 minutes to be served. Everything came in a sealed plastic bag, and the waiter poured the whole seafood mix directly onto the table lined with a paper sheet, just as expected from a seafood boil place.

The Cajun sauce was flavorful, slightly spicy and rich, though a bit salty. When paired with the white rice, the balance was just right.

I honestly thought I could finish the combo alone, but the portion was quite generous. I ended up asking the waiter to pack the remaining seafood for takeaway, planning to enjoy it later for dinner or supper.

The original bill was RM109.05.

With the Grab Dine-Out 20% deal and the additional 30% Father’s Day promo, the final price came down to RM72.24.

Considering I split the meal across two sittings, it felt like paying around RM36 per meal. Not bad for a seafood feast. Later that night, I cooked up some vermicelli noodles and added in the leftover Cajun sauce.

It actually worked pretty well, although I was way too full after having both rice and noodles on the same day.

Overall, I really enjoyed the meal at Ombak Kitchen Bangsar. The promo made it even more worthwhile. I’d definitely come back again, especially if there’s another promo deal running.
