During the night, we went to Central i-City shopping mall for some shopping. While walking on the ground floor, we noticed banners for Uncle Roger’s “Best Fried Rice in Town” everywhere, including the main hall and near the escalators.
We decided to give it a try since my parents and siblings had never tried it before. Plus, Uncle Roger recently shared that all egg fried rice dishes now come with an extra egg due to customer feedback, as the regular egg fried rice was reportedly quite plain before.
Once seated, we ordered the signature Uncle Roger’s Special Fried Rice (non-spicy), Uncle Roger’s Egg Fried Noodles, and the Chicken Karaage Egg Fried Rice (also known as the Nephew Egg Fried Rice or “kids meal”) from the menu.
The waiting time was pretty quick since there weren’t many people, and we were served within 15 minutes.
As for the food, the Uncle Roger’s Special Fried Rice (non-spicy) was just okay for me. It was a bit saltier than usual fried rice, possibly due to too much MSG. The fried noodles were average, and so was the Chicken Karaage Egg Fried Rice, which is marketed as a “kids meal.”
When paying the bill, we received a token for ordering the “kids meal,” which could be used to play the Gachapon machine for a chance to win the following prizes.
We ended up winning an Uncle Roger lanyard.
The final bill came to RM59.15 after tax.
Overall, the experience was just okay, though I found the prices slightly high for fried rice.
