5am Bak Kut Teh Adventure @ Ban Lee BKT

It’s late at night again, and I suddenly had a craving for Bak Kut Teh when I noticed the clock tick to 5 AM. So, I quickly Googled around to see if any BKT shops were open and found that Ban Lee Bak Kut Teh opens as early as 5 AM. I think it’s probably the earliest BKT restaurant in the KL area, fitting perfectly with my KL Supper theme, staying open until 6 AM. Looks like I can now enjoy almost a full set of odd-hour eating adventures, from 1 AM until 6 AM! Just like the Grandma Roast Duck that opens at 4 AM.
Once I got in the car, I checked Waze, and it only took me 13 minutes to drive there.

Once I got in the car, I checked Waze, and it only took me 13 minutes to drive there.

Upon arrival, I noticed a few people had already started dining, and I was their third customer. I ordered “Sui Kut,” and the wait time was around 10 minutes.

The Bak Kut Teh tasted decent, though the herbal flavor was a bit stronger than what I’m used to. I’m from Klang, known for having the best Bak Kut Teh, and I’d rate this one around 7 stars out of 10. Compared to Klang, though, it’s always a 10/10 (yes, I’m biased!).

I ended up ordering a small bowl of rice to go with it, but I couldn’t finish it. So, I took it home to avoid wasting food.

The final bill was RM28, and no receipt was provided. However, you can see the breakdown on the whiteboard below: RM22 for claypot BKT, RM2 for a big rice, RM1.80 for a small rice, and RM2 for Chinese tea.

Later that night, I decided to have the leftover BKT with added canned button mushrooms for dinner, since “Tapao” food should always be consumed within 24 hours if stored in the refrigerator.

For dessert, I also had the DONKI Tarami Pure Grape Jelly, and it tasted great too.
